About the Bleeps in "South Park"

Ladies and Gentlemen, What's up with all the bleeps in "South Park"? I know that the only two words they censor out are "fuck" and "shit". Come on! It's rated TV-MA! Some say that they're for humor, but I also noticed that the two words were censored out in the closed captioning. They're also censored in the videos. They, too, are censored in the video game, and it's rated "M"! I also noticed that they bleep out the "hole" part of "asshole" in the commercials for the show. Come on! "Hole" isn't a bad word. I mean, think about what it would be like if they just bleeped out "hole" all the time! "I'm going to dig a *bleep*." That's kind of stupid. It's not like little children watch the show or anything. They also bleep out the two words in "Upright Citizens Brigade" and it's understandable, since it's rated TV-14. Either lower the rating to TV-14 or take out the bleeps! One episode that deserved a lower TV rating was "Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods", which had no bleeps at all in the episode! This whole thing is totally stupid. I'll explain what I think the reason is. I was also wondering why they bleeped these seeing as the kids say all sorts of other stuff that is in the same category, and I reckon it's irony. I think there is a lot of subtle humour in SP that isn't really noticed but makes it more funny :P

Maybe it's because Americans have a strange sense of morality. Here in Australia, everything is bleeped that would even approach being offensive, plus they don't allow anything like that before 8:30PM, nudity comes after 9:30PM.

Actually, something I don't understand is why does South Park get a rating of TV for a mature audience while other shows which have more violence and more swearing than SP get a lower rating.

In commercials, they bleep the 'hole' part of asshole because it's more offensive. Think about it:

"He is an ass" -- okay, he could be a rear end *or* a donkey.
"He's an asshole!" -- definately we know what they're talking about. this is
                      more offensive, because there's no way it could be about
                      a donkey.

When people get offended, they write letters, call networks, and get shows cancelled. Those that don't like the show don't watch it. Comedy Central doesn't want to offend those 'ultra-religeous' people that don't watch SP.
