Why so few episodes?

Most tv shows have 22 episodes a season, why does South Park only have like 14 or 15, and then that is split up by 6 months?

Most TV shows have numerous writers, possibly as many as a dozen or more. With South Park, Matt and Trey write every episode.

Typical UK tv show, animated or live action is 8 episodes.

Well with 2nd season of coupling it rose to 9 and 3rd had 7 eps, either way it's pretty lame considering the eps u get in a US TV series.

A couple of questions:

1. Since nearly all of the SP eps have Matt and Trey getting the "Written by..." credit, what does the writing staff do?

2. Whatever happened to Nancy Pimental? She wrote that Cameron Diaz movie(THE SWEETEST THING) and then she disappeared when that film flopped.
