Yes. It is out, but from what I've heard you need a good video card for it to run properly.

Unfortunately, she was correct- to some extent. Last week I was infected by a virus that has also been named a worm. It attacks a file that is vital for connecting to the internet. (This is what happened when I sent a post, when I caught it, I canceled the message that had the attachment.) The virus will not destroy your computer, but it will mess with your e-mail and news messages. Anytime you send a message (e-mail or news) it will attach without your knowledge. It is a fairly new virus that was found recently (it actually started in newsgroups). If you have downloaded and ran a file called Happy99.exe, you have been infected. For information on and help detecting the virus please go to the site posted at the end of this message. If you have been infected, you virus scanner (whose definitions should be updated) probably won't be able to clean the file and you will have to delete all infected files (there should be 4, including Happy99). Unfortunately once this occurs you will not be able to connect to the internet until you replace the file wsock32.dll which is the file that was infected and caused problems with your e-mail and news. You can follow the following steps to solve this problem.

For those with the Upgrade shipping version follow these steps: 1. Click start on the Windows 98 taskbar. 2. Select 'Run...' 3. Insert your Windows 98 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. 4. Type the following in the 'Open' drop-down list box and click 'OK':

Try all three versions till you find the one that works.

If none of these work for you, there one last solution that can be taken to repair the problem. 1. Open Windows Explorer (It allows you to see all the files in your computer.) 2. Go to the View Menu and choose Folder Options. 3. Choose the View tab 4. Make sure that the box next to "hide file extensions of known file types" is NOT checked. 5. Make sure that you have chosen to "show all files" 6. Go to the Start Menu, choose Find files or folders. 7. Search for wsock32.ska, it should find it in the Windows\System directory 8. Rename the file to wsock32.dll This will fix your problem if none of the other solutions work. If you have any questions, please e-mail me.
