Mr. Hankey CD

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten the Christmas CD yet, and what they think of it. As for me, so far (in no particular order) the songs I like the most are:

-Cartman's version of "O Holy Night" (too bad Kyle wasn't there with his cattle prod) -The Lonely Jew on Christmas (and btw- is that Neil Diamond singing along with Kyle, or Trey doing a Neil Diamond impression?). This is probably my fave, 'cause I just looooooove it when Kyle sings :-) -I Saw Three Ships by Shelly Marsh -Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel (cute and catchy, but cheesy at times) -Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (very cute and heartwarming)

Now, some questions and comments about the rest of the songs.... -I wonder if "Cowboy Timmy", who sings the Mr. Hankey theme, is actually Trey? -Regarding the song "Dead Dead Dead", I wonder if it now has a different meaning for Trey and Matt after the Mary Kay tragedy. -In the song, "It Happened in Sun Valley", the duet w/ Stan and Wendy, Wendy's voice REALLY sounds different. Her voice is not as high and squeaky. Cute and catchy song though, one of those songs that kinda grows on you after a while. -Is it just me, or is Cartman's song "Swiss Colony Beef Log" done in a similar style to "Come Sail Away", or rather, in that 80's ballad sort of style? -Although it does quite live up to its name IMO as a Catholic, I can't help but chuckle at Kenny and Mr. Hankey's "The Most Offensive Song Ever". It's just so offensive that I wince and shake my head in disbelief whenever I hear it. -What is up with that Mr. Garrison song? It just sounds dumb.

I must say, it is a great CD. :D I am more impressed with the movies that Parker and Stone have done AND the albums that they have released than the TV show itself. This Xmas CD is no different. I find myself replaying songs so much that I haven't gotten through the album the first time yet. The songs that I have heard I love...like the Xmas Poo song, the Dreidel song, the Most Offensive song, and so forth. They are all catchy parodies of Xmas songs. :D Great album!

Is it gunshots, or just a sound effect indicating Shelley knocking the boys into the wall? I'm not quite sure, although it does sound somewhat like a gunshot.

sounds like gunshots to me. the first time i heard it it made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

in the show tonight it was changed from a gun to shelley throwing the piano on stan and kyle.

Gun shots? I didn't hear that! It sounded like the piano breaking to me, as shown on the episode where she throws it on Stan and Kyle..I'll hafta listen closer!

There were NO, and I repeat NO gunshots at the end of Shelley's song. It was in fact the piano being smashed over Stan and Kyle.

On the CD there are gunshots. Definitely gunshots. There's no way someone can confuse them with the sound of a piano crashing down. I think that, out of respect, Trey and Matt just changed the sound when they were putting the final touches on the episode.

The big bang at the end of the song was Shelley Smashing a Piano over Stan's Head, as she did in an earlier episode.

Don't forget, the background music in "I saw 3 Ships" was played on a PIANO! Makes sense now, doesn't it?

I'm sure matt and trey would be stupid or sick enough to include gunshots aka. Shelley killing stan if it infact was a gunshot, or whatever, into a CD.

Considering all the school shootings in the US lately, Matt and Trey could've had their asses landed in court if they did.

So i'm pretty sure it was the PIANO.

In the CD that I bought, it sounds really different than in the episode. The CD featured gunshots IMO. The episode featured the sound of a piano. The sound I hear on my CD and the sound in the episode are completely different. *Maybe* it's not gunshots, but it is ABSOLUTELY NOT the sound of a piano. Perhaps later copies of the CD are made with the piano sound as a result of the Mary Kay tragedy.

I don't know why Shelly would shoot Stan, as hinted in the original CD, but she has done a lot of things to him in the past like run him over with a lawn mower, squish him in between his hospital folding bed, and throwing him down the cellar stairs.

I bought the CD at midnight, the day it came out (November 23). Anyway, I listened to that damn part for 10 minutes and I distinctly heard the piano smash on the boys' heads. I don't make mistakes like that.

Funny that I didn't hear any of the keys go off on the CD as they did on the episode. If you insist it wasn't a gun shot, then I offer these alternatives: 1. a bowling ball knocking pins down - a strike. 2. someone knocking over a pile of firewood or 2-by-4's. I like the second one.

Oh, those were gun blasts on the CD alright! Doesn't mean she had good aim. Shelley lifting the piano and slaming it on the boys is funnier, though. She's one powerful 7th grader!

The latter, I assume. (The CD says that all celebrity voices are impersonated.) He also did a killer Neil Diamond impression on the Emmys this year, and in the conjoined twin episode. He has it down so pat, when I first heard him do it, I was absolutely *positive* that it was Neil Diamond.

I wondered the same thing. Then I realized that that was probably exactly what he meant for the song to mean in the first place. ("Nobody knows, that's my point...".)

To me, it sounds like a cross between Meatloaf (circa Bat Out of Hell) and early Bruce Springsteen. I think that it's the best thing on the CD. He catches that whole genre so perfectly, even down to the whispered "no beef log". Just perfect.

I just love this CD- I play it constantly. I especially love Dead, Dead, Dead and Swiss Colony Beef Log, but there are so many other wonderful songs. They just continue to amaze me.

That's one of my favs...heh. And no one mentions Carol of the Bells...I think that's kinda funny...

i thought carol of the bells was hilarious the first time i heard it...i don't think i've actually listened to it again since then. i tend to just skip right over it.

the songs i have probably listened to the most are "christmas time in hell", "dreidel, dreidel, dreidel" and "swiss colony beef log".

My favorites are:

• Merry Fucking Christmas - the best damn SP song ever
• O Holy Night - it is the night with the Christmas trees and pie
• It Happened in Sun Valley - rollicking fun
• Swiss Colony Beef Log - there's no beef log to be found

I would list Dead as #5, but I had an incredibly horrific experience with that song and 3 grams of mushrooms last week...seriously...it was the scariest night of my life.
