One of the best things about seeing the Movie as compared to the TV series is being able to see things on a more non-restrictive type zone that we can not see in the TV series. I think the movie captures the personalities of the boys & other characters pretty well along with mixing many things we can't see on TV (stronger language, stronger content, etc)---but the bad part with it is they clearly over-do it. Throughout the first two thirds of the film, we were still laughing at it all---but by the time the end reached---it had all been done so much---that by then it was getting too repiticious seeing it done again & again. I'm not really sure how it all works---but here is my impression: Comedy Central took 2 dudes with moronic depraved minds in (Trey & Matt)---told them they could have a TV series with these likeable characters with off-the-wall bizarre humor---but that certain resitrictions would have to be made for the reasons of being on TV, and to keep the name of Comedy Central in tact. So far, we love the idea of such a show---but we are a little annoyed at TV's & Comedy Central's impounded restrictions. So in the movie, TV & Comedy Central had less of a say---if any at all---& creator's Trey & Matt had the majority of the say----so that is where some things win in the movie---but also get ruined as well. I think a lot of Trey/Matt humor is funny & hilarious. If they would have just kept the Sadamme Hussain stuff out of there---& used more of the main likeable characters instead (Mr Hankey, the bus driver, a little more of Chef, etc.) & also worked a little more on balancing a few things out more effectively---this movie could have been a major improvement. I think Matt & Trey wanted too much control over the movie---& it ended up where they had no guidance by professionals on what should & should not be in the movie. Obviously, a professional would have told them, hey you need some of these characters in, some of this stuff out, & most definately have to give the people their Mr Hankey. Have him be the one who saves the war & be the little hero of the film. (geesh gosh, maybe by spreading shit all over the people waking them up to the war they were inflicting or something....it would have been yucko----but I'm sure Trey & Matt would have loved the humor of doing it.) Instead, it ends up where the TV series is a lot better....& the movie is a lot of good stuff mixed in with useless garbage. In that aspect, Comedy Central wins out over Trey & Matt---& that is not the way it should have been.

Okay, RTJoby, if you know so much about how the movie should have been, maybe YOU should write the next one. At least post a synopsis of what you think the second South Park movie's story should be.
As for me, I thought that every minute of the film was excellent. The gags were numerous and hilarious, the satire was subtle and sharp, and the storyline was brilliant. I rarely pay to see films in a theater more than once, but I definitely intend to see the South Park movie again soon. Also, I hope the NC-17 version comes out on VHS.
