What Kenny says in "Mountain Town"

I've been playing the MP3 of "Mountain Town" (I now have the soundtrack, but only the MP3 will do as you'll see here).

My computer system allows precise control over the sampling rate of the soundsystem. I played by "Mountain Town" and slowed the sample rate during Kenny's moment just before Kyle's "That's right!" to 20% of normal, which allowed me to probably add to the proof that Kenny says

"And this movie's gonna make our lives complete, 'cos Terrance and Phillip are sweet" (KyleIke isn't sure about this, but she's going along with it anyway until someone can offer an alternative). I thought I heard "f**k you", but then, BLU has warped my fragile little mind.

The number of syllables, and sounds of the syllables/words that can be heard reasonably clearly seem to indicate that Kenny does indeed say the above. Can anyone else with a similar way of slowing the playback confirm this?

I'm quite sure WinAMP can do this with a DSP plug-in, but I don't use Microsoft rubbish or rubbish that runs on Microsoft rubbish any more :-)

I knew some of the words at the time, but I did see them here before. (Oh, I've bookmarked this post, and I'll give you some credit on Moutain Town cause you went to the trouble of slowing it down and stuff =))

Therefore, whatever Kenny's line was still had to deal with describing the town, not the Terrance and Philip movie. Just seems to make sense to me *shrug*

I know, but sometimes Kenny just repeats what someone else says (IE Death, basically sounds like the same speech Kyle gave) or just says something before someone else does.

Not necessarily! The conjunction can bounce the general idea off at a tangent;

"It's a beautiful day, /and/ I've got tickets to the Terrance and Phillip movie" - it still makes sense, even though the latter part of the sentence has nothing to do with the day.

Finally, Stan and Kenny seem to be on different wavelengths throughout the song - Stan is concentrating as much on the town as on the movie, while Kenny seems preoccupied with getting to see the movie;

"in which we'd be glad to drown" - Stan's theme, the town

"And this movie's going to make our lives complete, 'cos Terrance and Phillip are sweet" - Kenny

"That's right!" - Stan (agreeing that T&P are sweet), and then quickly continuing with his theme before being interrupted by Kenny.

Someone else's suggestion "Don't you know? It's like a perfect winter's day, and that I'm glad I can say" might also link to "It's Sunday morning in our quiet little whitebread redneck mountain town" - "That's right!" being Stan's agreement with Kenny that it /is/ Sunday morning in their quiet little whitebread mountain town :)

Both these suggestions actually seem to fit - both when played at normal speed and when slowed down, dammit - I think both could be valid. Better include both in any lyrics then - and hold Matt Stone hostage until he spills the beans :)

And now, the coup de grace:

When the boys get around to saying

"And this movie's going to make our lives complete, 'cos Terrance and Phillip are sweet,"

"-plete" and "sweet" are short syllables. But, since they're slowing down at that point, "sweet" is lengthened. If Kenny were to sing those words in front of the church, the lines would end crsiply, with the short syllables (no slowing down there), but the last syllables of his lines are long. That, and the fact that

"And this movie's going to make our lives complete, 'cos Terrance and Phillip are sweet,"

is just out of place the first time, a non sequitur, and he'd end up singing it twice. That's why I did my own rendition and came up with this:

"Don't you know? It's like a perfect winter's day, and that I'm glad I can say."

It fits the context, it address the "fuck" ("...like...") another reader thought he heard, and it has the long syllables the lines end with.

i was pretty sure the second line was "........as anybody can see". shows what i know.

Well, that line is valid, too...
