I guess that depends on what your source for music is.

There are a lot of good bands out there.. if you open your eyes and ears. Turn off your radio and MTV and find something YOU like, not something you are SUPPOSED to like.

For real. It sucks being trapped on AOL, where you can't go into a Young Adult chatroom without hearing a bunch of teenyboppers arguing over whether KoRn or BackStreet Boys is better.

I've only bought two albums this year, the South Park album, and Silverchair's neon ballroom. Which I still can't believe I'm admiting, considering I hate their guts. However, I really liked a song on that album and was surprised the album is quite listenable.

But nothing has blown me away latly. :(

Finally! A group I've heard of. Don't care for them, but at least I actually recognize a name! That's a start.

It was a shortlived start. I can't believe someone really named a group Snot (RIP Lynn). (Or did that mean 'Lynn' was 'in' Snot, then died? Must have been some loss. Like when Lennon was shot.)

Two thoughts.

1. For the most part, nearly every group mentioned in this post serves as proof positive that all of the good group names have been taken.

• I've never even heard of a single group you mentioned.

Yet I have about a dozen Beatles CDs including the Anthology.

The Offspring Fastball They Might Be Giants (umm...they started in the 80's but they're still around) Barenaked Ladies Geri Halliwell (you'd be surprised, her music is not at all bubble-gummy and aimed at prepubescent girls...her music's very good) Weird Al Yankovic Brian Setzer Orchestra (I got his guitar pick! I got his guitar pick! Woohoo!) Britney Spears (ok, ok..I admit it, I like her music, it's fun. As long as I don't have to hear radios overplaying of it...overplaying of *anything* totally gets on my nerves--except when I set Come Sail Away on repeat for a few hours, I could listen to that forever :)--And I don't really give a damn 'bout the whole image deal of Britney or anyone else, I mean when buying music it should be bought for the *music*)

Umm, methinks that's it. I mostly listen to older schtuff...mostly. :) (the Cars, ELO, the Bangles, the Supremes, Cyndi Lauper, and anything they have on those 70's and 80's radio shows :))

I like some of today's music, but a lot of it (N*SUCK type bands, most rap, country) sucks mucho ass.

Whew.. I don't know.. I thought that a few years ago. But you have to look at how much they developed as musicians and lyricists in the eight year span that they were around. Not to mention the impact they had on pop culture.
