to AOL users

I would like to make a request to the AOL users out there. PLEASE learn how to use the damn Internet before posting. In the SOUTH PARK SUCKS thread, I replied to the original poster's message saying about how he and his friends should go catapult themselves against the Comedy Central building, etc. I have now gotten TWO very nasty replies via email BOTH from AOL users, obviously thinking that I was the original poster. People, PLEASE learn how to use the Internet. I know that AOL sucks and they hold your precious little hands through everything, but at least pick up something like Internet For Dummies and learn how to read quoting attributes. If you knew anything about it and didn't just pick a random email address out of the post, then you would have seen that I REPLIED to the original post.

My apologies to the more learned AOL users, but damnit, most of you really piss me off. Thanks.

You can fix those AOLers. If they get TOS'ed 3 times (violate terms Of Service) they lost their accounts. Just forward harassing/abusive mail to [email]. If they post a harassing message in the newsgroup, write [email] or [email].

You can report them for almost anything - cursing, harassment, abuse, they cant even MASK curses like F**k, s%#t, etc. Let's rid the internet of those AOL pests and this newsgroup. Everybody go on a TOS rampage!!!!

Because I happen to like some of the message boards, I can easily "chat" with other AOLers who are much smarter than the stereotype says they are, and I don't let some poster I don't know tell me which server I should choose, because I picked "the wrong one".

Excuse me? Don't get me started. Okay, maybe a little. When was the last time you had a crash from one program bringing the whole system down? When was the last time you had a memory clog where the system just got slower and slower until it was so unbearable that you had to reboot just to get back your speed. When was the last time by hardly doing anything at all that you would expect your OS to handle and you got some annoying error about a program performing an illegal action and having shut it down and then some things just not working correctly until you had to reboot? Yeah, I guess it really isn't that bad. my definition of a good OS is one that you can have up for months without a reboot and no degredation of performance.

Of course you have a choice. Of course I would never expect most people to use UNIX, but you have a perfectly good and easy to use OS around that is sort of a hybrid of UNIX/VMS and Windows. It's called Windows NT.

Granted. NT is not cheap. I understand your point. But not running Linux or FreeBSD for the same reason as NT? Money? Linux and FreeBSD are free. Sorry, I totally understand your point. I just personally have no patience for 95.

I'm a firm advocate in freedom of speech, I've stated that many times. While I don't like AOLs policy, or any policy that restricts user freedom <other than spamming, that is>, AOL has the right to prohibit certain activities by their users. If someone is annoying enough to warrant it, I'll TOS them just to get them to shut up. It's happened before. But I won't TOS someone just because they're from AOL.

Okay, as an AOL user, I am devastated that AOLers have been stereotyped thusly. not. Anyway, I have tried to download binaries through AOL, had to switch to Netscape, cuz I don't think AOL can handle it that well, if at all. Now I guess it is a good thing that I don't post to that many groups through AOL...no one would here me. Ogh well, I have CIM, MediaOne, and MSN for backups if someone should ignore me through AOL. I think once AOL makes their mail servers compatible with Outlook Express, I prolly won't even need the AOL program at all. Especially with Netscapes AOL Instant Messenger around. And all this for just $10 a month. Sweet!
