I was a deadhead for a few years and got to seem them in Las Vegas 1993 or 1994 and had so much phun (I scored 11 hits of acid), and while the Dead were pretty good, I didn't think Phish had anything to offer except an alternative method of LSD distribution after Jerry died.
so very sad. phish are something different from the dead. actually, if you were to take phish to really high quality musicians and play them, you'd find that phish would be much better received.
trey is now being invited to play with herbie hancock and that caliber of musician.
the dead are wonderful in their own right. phish had bigger jams, bigger peaks, and less death and despair.
