What the hell was that last night? Has Trey finally let stardom get to him. Why the hell do we have to listen to lectures about his views. There's a difference between having an episode like the rainforest one, full of obvious political opinions, but now he's gonna have scenes where the characters talk directly to the camera (so to speak) and give us a friggin' lecture? And why in the world are you going to alientate half your audience with that bullshit about democrats. Why make the issue of excessive lawsuits in this country, one I happen to agree with him on, an anti-democratic issue? There was a thread on this newsgroup recently about the conservative trend lately on the show but last night was like listening to Limbaugh for God sake. I hope Trey checks out this ng and I hope he reads this. Lighten up man, it's supposed to be entertainment. Don't you know you get points across better with subtlety. This is not your personal soapbox and you will loose viewers if you keep that crap up.

I'm not trying to start and fight here, but you should heed your own advice and lighten up too. I assume you have more liberal views than conservative. Same here, but the way I see it, the show is Matt and Treys. They can do whatever the hell they want with it. They don't have to cater just to us. If they want to do shows from a conservative point of view, then I say more power to them. Like I said before, it is THEIR show. Not ours. And I doubt they care about either of our opinions anyway.

The interview was so *short*, for one thing.
For another, I think all the fuss is interesting, especially the things Christian groups have said -- a lot of it is almost as funny as the movie.
The only thing is -- as I was watching it, I kept thinking that I'd read even funnier reviews (including the "anal wind" one) online, and I wished he could have read from *those*.
But I don't see what he said that was particularly preachy. I mean, calling Streisand a "bitch" ain't exactly PC...

Well, one explaination T&P have given was when Barb tried to organise a boycott against the entire state of Colorado because it refused to enact a blatantly politically correct law that gave special treatment to gays (gays already have as much rights as everyone else there, but the vote was to give them even MORE rights than the average joe).
The people in Colorado saw it as a steaming load of PC being forced down their throats, they voted against it, and ever since, Barbera Streisand has wanted to punish them for disobeying.
Trey & Matt saw the silver lining in all this, because this also meant that Barbera Streisand would stay out of their home state ("No more Barbera Streisand ever!!!!"). "We need to make more laws she hates", they once said.
This incident, along with other examples of Barb Streisand's blatant arrogance, are good enough reasons to have her declared as a "super King Kong mega bee-atch".

Well, there you have it. Most spoofed celebs would either let it slide or not make a stink about it (because it would make a bunch of publicity they would'nt like or can control, and makes them look like a bad guy/gal with no sense of humor no matter how it turns out), but Barbara Steisand IS a Mega Bitch with no sense of humor, mind you. So it's no surprise she's shown her true colors in this fashion.

i'm not a fan of barbara, but maybe matt and trey think they are totally awesome dudes if they make fun of babs all the time, or it could be they still think they are high school students and they want to play bully to babs. who knows, i don't. i do get tired of the striesand jokes though, ok-i get it, they don't like barbara!-lol.

According to what I heard, the Colorado state legislature refused to pass a bill that would have removed discrimination against homosexuals in the state of Colorado. Whether it would have given gays more rights than straights (which would itself be discriminatory) as is alleged here I can't say. If not, Streisand would have been quite right IMO to voice her disquiet.
My opinion on gay rights? The law should not discriminate against gays by denying them equal rights and opportunities in law, any more than it should discriminate against straights by denying *them* equal rights and opportunities in law. Simple, really. And given Colorado's reputation, I can quite imagine general institutional homophobia causing a backlash against equal rights for gays.

I think there's a difference between being a fan of the creators and being a fan of the show.
Personally, I love South Park; the show, the movie, the characters, the cheesy animation, the irreverent wit. I love everything about it. But I couldn't give a Rat's ass about the two guys behind it.
