Auditing isn't crackpot therepy

What the Scientologists call "auditing" is actually a legitimate therapy that could be developed and used by actual therapists, except for the fact that none of them will touch it for fear of being associated with the crackpot cult of Scientology that uses it for brainwashing.

The field of mental health practitioners should being a class-action lawsuit against the Church of Scientology for screwing millions of people out of the benefits they could receive if this valid and useful tool was available to them.

And you know this how exactly?

I'll take your word for that! Most of psychology is a bit kooky though, dont you think!

No way dude! Freud suffered from classical cocaine-induced mania! It just isn't all about how you went number one or number two when you were a baby! Freud is another example of some guy saying "the world's like this because I say it is" - The rest of academia becomes too scared to disagree, in case they get called a "poo-hider" or something

freud was just a bit smarter than hubbarsd: he made his sci-fi more down to earth

the "poos & wees" part of freud is a bit like the xe-nu thing. it usually gets hidden until you're otherwise committed

You do him a grave injustice. I can't say anything about his later years, maybe you are right about that he was completely insane then; but the concepts of id, ego and superego and the existence of a subconscious (all of which he developed early on) were probably decades ahead of their time and helped jump-start the science of psychology.

However, there are other ways of interpreting what Freudians interpret as those three "elements of the psyche". And many people were working on ideas of "subconcsious" at the same time, and it can also be interpreted in a less dehumanising way.

My main problem with Freud is that as a general rule psychology and psychoanalysis has been, is, and will be used far more importantly for manipulation of groups and entire societies than it has been, is, and will be used for "personal growth".
