What's the deal with this weeks episode? It was so weak! The only things I got a kick out of was Cartman (who makes me laugh every time he says something, cuz his voice is so funny), Stan's grandpa, and the people catapulting their bodies (especially Kenny's dad Mr. McKormik) at the Cartoon Network building. It was definitley the worst episode of SP so far.
So, is SP going to get worse and worse every new episode? Even Kenny's death was horrible. It had no creativity. Death touches Kenny, Kenny dies....hurray. Now what? WIll somebody please assure me that SP is going to get hilarious like at the beginning again?
Well, I didn't mean to imply that it was a bad episode. Just that the other 5 episodes were(on the whole)funnier, in my opinion. Every ep is great, though.
BTW, I just saw Cannibal: The Musical. Trey Parker's Troma movie. Absolutely hilarious. Pretty hard-to-find (at least for now), but well worth the trouble.
Well, I traded with someone for a copy. Great movie. It aired on Cinemax once, so maybe they'll air it again (maybe) I don't think it'll be at Blockbuster or anything, but maybe at a Mom and Pop-type vid store.
You could ask around in Alt.Video.Tape-Trading. That's what I did. It's a Troma film, so you could probably buy a copy at their site. http://www.troma.com I think. Might be a bit expensive, though.
C'mon! It's the sixth show! It wasn't even that bad. If you remember, the Simpsons didn't really blossom until the third season. One thing I do see that is a problem is making the show formulaic, relying on the same characters doing the same things every show--Kenny dying, Chef singing, Mr.Garrison being off his fucking rocker--where over twenty more shows these situations and same characters could get tedious, although I do find Kenny dying extremely illustrative of the laws of cartoons. I also think they will never turn out enough episodes with enough diversity if Parker and Stone write all the episodes themselves. Warner Bros. cartoons were shaped by Friz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Bob Clampett, and Tex Avery, and The Simpsons was shaped by Matt Groening, John Swartzwelder, Sam Simon, and Conan O'Brien (responsible for arguably the best episodes). Parker and Stone need more ideas for their creation to help it flourish or it will just be a fad show/merchandise vehicle (I'm thinking Comedy Central will have to raise their budget a little). Oh, and if Parker and Stone read this group, I am a writer, I am a cartoon historian, and I do have a few episode ideas, and best of all I'll work at scale, but folks, what I said still applies or this show will get dull quick.
Well, I went to school today and started discussing this weeks episode of SP. I realized that I came to a conclusion WAY to quickly. If anything, the Kathy Lee Gifford episode was the worst of the 6, but that was still funny. I think I just got a bad impression of the episode because of the ending. The ending want funny at all, and Kenny's death was horrible. The entire first 20 minutes or so were fricken kilarious. I shouldn't have posted right after seeing the episode.

Yea, KLG was the worst episode. I thought it had so much potential to defame KLG. I would have liked for it to have been about her trying to make the SP kids work in a sweatshop.
I thought the last show was great. The only show I didn't care for was Volcano. It's a shame that we will have to wait a while before any new eposodes. I wish they would have done a Thanksgiving special, that way we would have a least one new show every month till January.

I completely agree. I was afraid that some of Matt/Trey humor went off my humometer, and this episode confirmed this fear.
Explosive gas and bathroom antics don't fly with my sense of humor. It's too easy and doesn't jive with the crass, yet smart humor of the other SP episodes.
Hopefully, they will get some negative feedback and improve their focus going forward. After all, there is a LOT of pressure on these guys to produce consistantly original, hysterical 20 min. episodes.
Before you start complaining, take a look at how many episodes there are now. Six! How can you possibly criticize a show of going downhill when it hasn't really even started? Wait until after next 7 episodes, and then the 13 next year, and then make a comment.
What you're doing is like reading the first few pages of a book, and deciding that the rest of it sucks. It's not fair judgment.
