What's with the new simpsons episodes? They are terrible!, that's what's with them. For a show that has huge resource to hire the best script writers in the business , they are producing pretty substandard shows lately! Just take the recent halloween episode, for example, what was the deal with the story of doctor hibbert turning the characters into animals?.....it sucked! It was missing one small detail, a rather important detail mind you, it was missing humour! And for a comedy that's a fairly fatal flaw. Don't get me wrong i love the simpsons, well the old ones anyway! I think they should bring back the writers from the first 7 seasons when it was infallible, it couldn't be touched. Now it faces the danger of going stale. What happened the simpsons you used to be cool?!

I agree 100% with whoever wrote this particular post. The Simpsons are not THAT good anymore... they're still somewhat funny, but they lack the whole package that made them so great in the early-mid seasons. The Simpsons never were only a funny show.. they were true social icons and a source of entertainment and social commentary on many different levels. Right now, they're only... well, *funny*. Alright, who am I kidding? The Simpsons are fucking bullshit these days. Where's the biting social commentary? Where are the hilarious one-liners which made the show legendary?.Where's the realistic edge the show had in earlier seasons? Where the fuck are the satirical writers which made this, indeed, OFF?
If it's true that The Simpsons are saying goodbye after their 16th season, I'll be very sad if they go out on this note. I just wish that at least the next couple of seasons, they come back to their early writing ways, giving us CLASSIC and WITTY episodes we'll forever remember in our hearts. Bring back the old school of writing!!! Enough of episodes about Marge's boobs, singing worms, Skinner being a fake, and tennis courts. Bring back the CLASSICS, when The Simpsons were the best show ever.

Yeah, I agree to an extent. As for the other writers, I wouldn't mind seeing Conan O'Brian back!
James - the show _would_ become stale if there weren't fresh writers hired every few seasons.
if the show had the same humor it did then, it would have lost its appeal. it has evolved and relies on a different kind of humor now (a more goofy family guy sort of humor). of course i love the days of classic simpsons, but those days are over and while the new shows arent as good they're still fucking hilarious. ive lurked here since season 8 listening to u guys bitch about the show and how the old eps were better and guess what....that was like 5-6 years ago and they still havent changed it to resemble to old ones. why dont u appreciate what remains of it bc one day it will be over and u will only have bitter memories of it....
