Maybe it's their attempt to re-write history. There were no early episodes, just the last two seasons.

You know, like what Lucas did with Star Wars. He took the original versions of the first three movies out of circulation FOREVER, leaving us only with the so called "Special Edition" versions that came out five years ago.
