Correct, except for that the song is by The Who and its title is "Baba O'Reilly".

Except it's words & music by Pete Townshend. "Baba O'Riley" was originally part of an early Townshend project, "Lifehouse", which never came to fruition. He was trying to do multi-media back in 1970. Some of the songs Pete wrote for it were recorded on the "Who's Next" album. The other best known song in the same category is: "Won't Get Fooled Again". Approx. 2000 Townshend released the "Lifehouse Elements" CD which includes a knock-your-socks-off orchestral version of "Baba O'Riley", as well as "Won't Get Fooled Again". Great CD if you haven't heard it.

Yeah yeah, and one of the working titles for "Tommy" was "Deaf, Dumb, and Blind Boy". I read it in an old issue of Downbeat in the college music library.

The British documentary filmmaker asking schoolchildren "What will you be doing in seven years from now?" is almost certainly a reference to a Britsh documentary series by Michael Apted that started around 1964 : about a dozen schoolchildren of diverse background were asked how they saw their future seven years from then. They have been filmed and interviewed every seven years since then. Last time, in 1998, they were in their mid-forties.
