Maybe all of you have noticed but KBBL, Springfield's radio station has to be west of the Mississippi river. All W radio stations are east.

It's a general guideline. Stations formed before it was put in place may be exceptions, also radio stations are allowed to choose a particular call sign if available. For instance there's a WACO in Waco, TX. That would be an exception to the rule.

NYC has K-Rock, but that's WXRK.

I don't know. I'm not actually in Philadelphia. But I wanted a more obscure exception to the W/K rule than KDKA Pittsburgh, the first commercial radio station ever.

It's in San Francisco. By an Astonishing Coincidence, Springfield's Chinatown and San Francisco's Grant Street are egg-ZACTLY the same. (Except of course for the Toys L Us.)

There's also a KBBL in Little Rock, AR. It's AM, the one in San Francisco is FM. I think KBBL in Sprinfield is AM, not that it matters.

Yes, KBBL is in Little Rock, AR. Sprinfield is in Little Rock, AR. You have solved the mystery.

Stations with "W" at the beginning have also been mentioned on the Simpsons too, so the FCC in the simpsons universe apparently doesn't follow the same guidelines as ours.
