Notes for FABF12 (My Big Fat Geek Wedding)

I'm pretty tired today...in short, pretty good episode. Most of the humor had the quality of earlier seasons, the marriage-at-school motif was interesting, and so was the sci-fi-themed segment. Lots of stuff had to be packed into 22 minutes, so it moved fairly quickly; as well, what is arguably the B plot of Homer and Marge's marriage was just the right size, but it all worked pretty well. The main thing I didn't care for was that Edna and Seymour didn't actually get married, since it's clear that they're ordinarily a good match...and with so many episodes leading up to this, what's going to happen now? I suppose the writers have something in mind, however, so I'm not going to get really bent out of shape about it. Anyway, it was entertaining and engrossing throughout... A-?

DYN: ...lots of random people at the bachelorette party (Lindsay Naegle) and wedding (Frink, Fat Tony...)? ...Skinner really doesn't have any friends (though Chalmers does show up for his "party")? ...the stripper agency doesn't charge if it sends a client's daughter? ...the Larry David Wedding Experience? ...Marge found Homer's line to Skinner to be romantic? (Guess they do have a profound mystical understanding) ...Lenny mispronounces Futurama (Futur-aah!-ma) and Milhouse Groening (Groaning)? (OK, maybe it's a little more obvious than a DYN...but not a goof)

Other references Futurama (Fear of a Bot Planet, 1ACV05) - a Bender doll seen (Oh, there are lots more, but they seem so obvious)

Deleted scene: Homer in a coat, apparently being kicked out of the bachelorette party: "_I'll_ go to the bachelor party! Can I take these for snacks?" Marge: "Those panties aren't edible!" Homer picks them up anyway and walks out: "Everything's edible with ketchup!"

Also, Kirk and Louanne Van Houten are shown pretty close together in the wedding reception scene though Louanne moved out of town (and even when she WAS living in Springfield after splitting with Kirk, you usually never saw them in the same scene)

Umpteenth reference to The Natural home run - enough already.
