I would say "Bleeding Gums" Murphy, or Dr. Marvin Monroe, but they weren't popular.

Although Monroe was thought to have died in The Springfield Connection; his death marked by a 'Marvin Monroe Memorial Hospital' in Who Shot Mr Burns?, part 1; the 138th episode retrospective mentioned his death during the past year; and later episodes showed both his grave and a school gym named after him, he appeared briefly in season 15 episode Diatribe of a Mad Housewife -- claiming to have been very sick. (The creators put the doctor on that ten-year-long hiatus because voicing Monroe hurt Shearer's throat.)

Of course, Mr. Burns later explained that Smithers used a tanning spray which turn him dark orange. This explains the earlier "black" appearance.

I would say that 'any' of the Phil Hartman characters I miss to the max.

I don't usually get worked up about anybody dying, but it was a pity that we lost Phil Hartman so early in a stellar career.

That hottie of a wife blew his brains out... :o( I can't remember if she offed herself then or not. IIRC, she did and left the two kids without a father or a mother. :o(
