After What Season Will YOU Stop Buying The DVD Sets...?

Once they put out Season 9, that's it for me. And I would only get that DVD set because of, literally, a handful of eps.

I have all the episodes past season three on tape, uncut. I'm only missing three from season three.

I don't really need them after that, don't know if i'll buy them.

Im gonna buy ALL of them,,sorry,,but if im gonna buy a series i want to have EVERY episode,,especially since syndication is stuck in a season 10-12 time warp at the moment (i KNOW seasons 3 and 4 are dated, but even a lame ep like when flanders failed is better than the 130th airing of bye bye nerdie).

I definetely would not buy seasons 11-12. Seasons 9-10 and 13-14 I could do without but I'd probably buy them. The rest are no-brainers.

I'm stopping at 8, maybe 9 (like the first poster said for a handful of eps, and maybe the cuts). Seasons 10-14 I just don't like enough to purchase, not to mention there are far fewer synd cuts. Plus, while I could be wrong, I doubt the commentaries would be that interesting, since most of the episodes I don't particularly love to begin with, and most of them don't have anything to "discuss" really. How can you talk about the satire, or characters, or emotion, etc, in "Kill the Alligator and Run"?

Simpsons episodes, even the good ones, aren't all that complicated. I found Spike Lee's commentary on the _Bamboozled_ DVD extremely interesting and enlightening, but it's a much more complex piece of work than a half-hour cartoon. I don't think the commentaries add anything at all.

I wonder if they could produce the box sets for each season faster if they dropped the commentaries altogether. Another poster in this thread mentioned DVD might not even be the format of choice by the time season 9 comes out. There's a similar joke on the liner notes of the season one set. This is ridiculous.

I think the DVDs as we know it will be around by the time the fifth season will be released. Hell, I think there'd be the extra-special-hyper-gee-whiz special editions of Seasons 1 and 2 out on DVD with two minutes of extra footage before the standard season five set is released.

Seriously, I think even the episodes most people didnt enjoy could be appreciated more in dvd form. At least think of listening to the writers and producers explaining themselves about the episodes.
