Differences In Episodes

I was watching Homerpolooza last night and I realised that the one shown on TV and the one on my video are quite different.

The TV one does not show:

The scene outside the music store where you can see the sign that says 'Suicide Notes Formerly Good Vibrations'

When the pig gets shot at Homer that guy just says "There goes Peter Framptons big finale', he doesn't say 'man is he going to be pissed'

and finally, when Bart ask Homer what religion he is he answers "The one with all those well meaning rules that never work out". He doesn't say Christianity!

Does this happen much in other episodes? It probably does, but I probably don't notice it.

yes. episodes are edited in syndication (in the US, sometimes other countries show them unedited, as far as i understand it) and many times they cut out really funny stuff. that's why taping/seeing the original airing of episodes is so important (IMO). cause lord knows it'll be years before we have them all on dvd. i mean, i've seen every episode, but not every *original* aired episode, so there's stuff in syndication cuts that i don't know about and haven't seen. and that really, really pisses me off. you know the one where springfield splits in two cause of area codes? not the best episode, but there's some funny stuff in there, and my local station edited it so bad it was like a whole different episode. anyway, see www.snpp.com backslash something or other for more info.

That's odd...none of those cuts are listed in the syndication cuts guide. Was this an American station? Unless they had something up their ass, they should just use the version given to them by the syndicators...but in other countries, they get reruns uncut and get to take out what they want. check out www.snpp.com/episodes/scg-7.txt - it's near the bottom - did you see the parts indicated by % lines?

wtf? the other two scenes *can* be overlooked, since they don't add a whole lot to the overall fun-o-meter (tho i'm not a big fan of taking out any scenes, in general), but not including homer's line destroys this scene! i don't think fox 5 has ever cut it out.
