The 21st installment is just plain worn out.

I agree. Especially if they can't be bothered to get the fucking thing out BEFORE Halloween, they shouldn't even do it at all. (Hint, hint FOX: Nobody wants to watch a Holiday Special after the holiday is over.)

(Besides, it's worse this year - while The Simpsons usually gets away with getting rid of all reference to Halloween ("It's the Grand Pumpkin, Milhouse" notwithstanding), this year the other three Sunday shows are specifically doing Halloween episodes - on November 7.)

On the other hand, who wants to watch it three weeks before Halloween? Two things are certain: one, they're not going to air the episode on any day of the week besides Sunday (becuase nobody will know that it's on, and if it's Halloween night, a considerable number of people won't even be home), and two, they're not going to move World Series games away from Sundays.

(There is a chance next year's version airs on October 30; the baseball season starts on March 31 in what was announced as an attempt to make sure the World Series ends in October, and if they keep the current system (where game 1 is on a Wednesday) in place, it would be over by October 27. However, now there is talk of extending the postseason playoffs, possibly starting in 2011, and there is also the chance that the World Series is moved to a Saturday start, so if a Game 7 is needed, it would be on October 30.)

Me too. But it was only one week late, not three.

And I don't like it. If I see Halloween stuff in a store before October, or Christmas stuff in a store before December, I turn right around and leave. If more people were to do this, we could get things put back in their proper seasons. "Just don't look!"
