Is Lisa really gifted or is she just booksmart? My opinion is this. Lisa is a prodigy when it comes to music, but in everything else, she's a typical eight year old. I think that she's just booksmart.

That's unusually perceptive for an eight-year-old.
I do agree that Lisa is not "perfectly" smart. Studies of real-life genius kids show that while many of them are advanced intellectually, they still have the emotional development of, well, children. Every now and then, the writers remembered to show us the little-girl side of her: digging "Itchy & Scratchy," childish fights with her brother, and so on. On the whole, though, I'd say she's more than just "book smart."
