In Weekend at Burnsie's, how exactly does Homer get Glaucoma? I think ive missed something

If you mean how does he come to need marijuana, birds savage his eyes when he takes them in but then is cruel to them later. Or something, I've only seen it once.

Marge set up a scare crow in her little garden, and one night, Homer saw it and then clubbed it from behind. The crows saw this and they were in Homer's power. Then, Homer sort of abused his power with crows, but they didn't complain. One day, he got bored of them and yelled at them, so they got mad and savaged his eyes.
