After yet another Homer and Marge fight which leads to yet another
time Homer leaves the house, he moves into a condo with two
homosexuals...and seems to be picking up their lifestyle
* NOTE: Some cities in the Eastern and Central time zones will get
this episode in progress, or even pre-empted, because of NFL
football (the only city that will definitely get it "in progress"
is Minneapolis; Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Kansas City, and
Nashville will also get it "in progress" if the local football
games sell out, and might get it "in progress" anyway)

Rating: TV-PG-DLVREVIEW: A-minus - not quite up to the effort of, say, "Treehouse of
Horror II", but definitely one of the better efforts this show
has put out, not in the least because (a) they don't have to
"follow the rules", and (b) they don't have to worry about
padding a story out to a full half-hour. Only, what was with
that last scene?REFERENCES Peanuts (Charlie Brown and Lucy costumes; Bart says "Good Grief") Reefer Madness (first story title) The Meaning of Life (Death is at the front door - "I am Death") The Benny Hill Show (chase scene with music) Curb Your Enthusiasm ("I'll curb him without enthusiasm") The Three Stooges (blocking an eye poke) 700 Club (Frink Sr. called Flanders this) "Stop the World, I Want to Get Off" (third story title) TV Guide "Simpsons" covers 9F16 (Marge's hair chopped off, leaving a "flat top")
DYNs ...the chimney in Kang and Kodos's ship had a figure on it with one of them eating Santa and another eating a reindeer? ...Homer's bowling ball says "HJS"? ...God couldn't tell Patty from Selma? ...the shark bite on Frink's father had "healed", or at least had been coated with something? ...neither Lenny nor Carl were wearing seat belts? ...Skinner wears briefs?
GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT Not only is there really a Dudley Hershbach, but he voiced himself, and yes, he did win a Nobel Prize (Chemistry, 1986).
Why didn't the rest of Homer's skin disappear?
Why didn't the man who stopped Homer's eyepoke die when his hand touched Homer's?
Was this the first Halloween special in which a story specifically referenced a previous story in the same episode (when Homer wished he was Death near the end of "Frinkenstein")?
Why did Moe order a pizza and leave money on the bar, since apparently he thought he would be dead by the time it got there?
In the commercials, when Santa's Little Helper has Death's leg, you can hear the noise made when Death hops after him, but this sound effect is not in the episode itself.
Dr. Hershbach's credit only appeared for 1/10 second (at least in the west coast); it's not clear if this was just a glitch in the tape, or somebody decided to speed through it for some reason. (The audio was muted during that "glitch" as well.)
