Before becoming just another running joke, "Have you tried the Internet?" could be considered (in ats) as helping a poster learn how to obtain information on his or her own, instead of just being handed an answer - like the "give a man a fish...teach a man to fish" philosophy.

I appreciate that from your perspective, ats probably was "the best place" to get an answer to your question - after all, I posted the answer less than 90 minutes after you asked it. However, more generally speaking, Google (or some other search engine) would probably be a better "best place" to ask such a question. In theory, you could have found the answer in just a few minutes instead of 90. Also, that "90 minutes" could have been hours, or days (or possibly never) depending on who might or might not have been willing to answer your question.

Question for the group - is anyone else offended or upset by my "personality" as I represent it in ats, or by any other poster who presents a similar personality here?

It didn't bother me, rather it made me do a silent Hibbert chuckle.

I recently posted a message about how I got Adobe Premiere to crash on an Adobe message forum, and two people balked at my message saying something like "why would anyone want to launch Premiere from a command line", etc. I was rather ticked off because I was reporting a bug publicly and a solution to the problem. I guess one has to be careful at all times, even when being helpful.

Who are you to judge others' attitudes? Since you started posting here you've done nothing but *demand* answers from people who aren't required to give you any. You've bitched out some of the regulars, and you've been quite rude at times. Jim's abusive attitude is always welcome in this group, but he wasn't being abusive. As he already stated, the phrase "Have you tried the internet?" is something you will see all too frequently in this group. If you'll recall, I said it to you when you asked a question that Google can readily supply and you got all pissed off then too. I can't believe someone so uptight and lacking in humor could ever find joy in watching the Simpsons.

Jim, you've been here long enough to already know that the answer to your question is "no." Shame on you for having to ask. I think your reply was wayyyy too nice.
