It was my understanding that each episode took about 6 months or whatever to make. Now that the show is animated digitally, is it safe to assume that this time has been reduced? South Park (which is digitally animated) takes 2-3 days to make, and I realize that OFF takes a bit longer, but I would think it would be much less than 6 months now. The reason I was wondering is because in that WNBA ep, there is a Chinese player who is supposed to be the female version of Yao Ming. Seeing as how this is Ming's 1st season, and the season started less than 6 months ago, and his popularity has recently increased due to endorsements, I thought that maybe the Simpsons now have the ability to make episodes much more quickly and thus, make episode content more topical (as south park does). Im looking for actual info, not just what you THINK might be the case, thanks!

I mailed yesterday to Al Jean (executive producer) and asked about it. He said it's roughly the same as in old way.
Yeah, but those Joe Millionaire ads ran through the Simpsons like a month ago, and they parodied them this soon with the Krusty in Kongress ep. That has to be some indication that the Simpsons is now animated in a much shorter time now

They have always had a chance to do last minute changes to the show - especially for the couch gag before it airs. But who knows, today's computers are so fast that maybe the Simpsons is nowdays faster to color than during S1 - S13.
