Simpsons After Dark Screen Saver...

Speaking of things that are a few years old, I used to have a Simpsons After Dark Screen saver (for either windows 3.1 or 95) with a bunch of different options. One was Homer eating the screen; another was Bart writing on the blackboard; another was various Simpsons heads floating around the screen saying their catch phrases when they bumped into other heads; and there were a bunch more.

Anyone know if that is still out there and if it's adaptable to WinME?

I'm dying to get my hands on it again...

Puhleeese... I'm mostly a Linux shop (mandrake 8.1) at home and almost entirely a Sparc/Solaris(5.5.1 - 8) at work; however, for xbox reasons, coupled with the fact that work uses Outlook for it's corporate e-mail system (FEH!!!) and a few other media-type reasons, I need a Windoze machine at home.

It sucks, but if it helps you feel any better, it's an unregistered version of ME :o)

Someone mentioned that a few months ago. There was some website that had it, but the link was broken. I don't remember the site though. There are tons of sites that have themes and screensavers, I'm sure you can find it somewhere.

And to answer your second question. You're damn lucky when anything runs on Windows ME.

I've been searching for a while. Nothing seems to match. I'll keep trying but *someone* out there has it...

Meh, I never seem to have problems with it. It's the one machine I am willing to run anything M$ on at home. Quick boot, quick shutdown and none of that NT multi-layered directory crap.

I have no complaints.

Well I've only actually barely ever used ME, but I didn't care for it. I really don't have an informed opinion about it.

I'll try to hunt down that website with the broken link...maybe they fixed it by now.

It's really just Windows 98 with a different name and a few more pnp device drivers (not saying that win98 was any good either, just stating a fact here).

I believe you. I actually don't mind 98. My only experience with ME was at this internet company I worked for which was owned by a phone switching company and, because it was cheap, we had to use the same call center system the operators used...it was on a really old VMS system. The ME machine was the only one that couldn't manage to reliably run the shell. I'm sure in general it's a perfectly cromulent OS, it just wouldn't run our VMS shell worth a damn.

Ah, running non-M$-partnered applications is exactly why Windoze will never hold a candle to unix-based OS'es. Heck, most M$-partnered applications don't even run properly on Windoze.

It's not online and I do appreate your offer, but someone was nice enough to send me the files. The only problem is the setup.exe seems copy protected. If we can find a way around that, we should be able to get it to work.

Anyone know how to break that copy protection?
