Part of an episode is cut for some reason to do with it getting shown by other TV networks I think, it doesn't happen here in the UK.
I downloaded season five TV to find that in the "Who needs the Quickie Mart" song episode, Homer saying " He lied to us through song, I hate it when people do that !" has been cut .
Seems stupid to cut a classic line if you have to cut anything.
How did you get to download Simpsons episodes?

They're called syndication cuts. When it was first broadcast, the episode contained that line. However, due to time constraints on the syndicated reruns they need to cut some stuff out. snpp has a list of syndication cuts.
There is a scientific theory formulated by the measurement of the ratio of utter banality to uninteresting-ness that can explain it.
It is called The Xino Effect or, as it is understood in layman's terms: a wizard did it. :-)

That might be so - and I hope it is in both the case of Star Wars and these episodes (it could be one of those one-disc deals that looks innocently random but actually has all the fixed versions of classic episodes) - but since George Lucas has said he has no plans to put out the original trilogy, we won't Be Able To for the foreseeable future.
