For those of you who don't know, agoraphobia is a fear of going out in public.)

The group of now-unemployed luxury professionals is reminiscent of the "B Ark" from "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (a planet decided to get rid of its "useless" occupations (including things like hairdressers and movie producers) by telling them the planet was going to be destroyed, so there would be three giant spaceships, which they referred to as "arks", to take them to another planet; unfortunately for the "important" people who stayed behind, one of the occupations on the B Ark was public telephone cleaners, and everybody who stayed behind died of a virus caused by a dirty phone.)
