I think I've found the exact reason the Simpsons has been shorthanded the past few years... It's no longer saving FOX! Now there's, shows that I personally hate, ALly McBeal, Boston Public, Grounded For Life, Titus, Malcom In The Middle... need I say more? It has and will take the crap of FOX until they go through and cancel half of their shows... FOX almost definitly will change the Simpson's timeslot. Maybe back to Thursday? It did better there, I think. Most probably, when they cancel either Boston Public or Grounded For Life/Titus or some other comedy (What else?), even Family Guy, they will do what they did before, air two Simpsons, one new, one re-run, and, well, it'll save FOX again. But, as far as I can see it, unless ABC's Sunday night programs start to loose steam, all of FOX's "good" progrmas will stay there. And don't forget 24 can't have a second season, it's not 48...

Actually, I think Fox has always short-changed OFF. As for the shows you mentioned, I hate all of them (except for Family Guy, which rocks! and 24 which is good too).
If they get rid of the Simpsons, we'll get to see an "all new That 70's show" with ugly people in ugly clothes, or an "all new Titus" (which is on 4 or 5 times a week anyway) with his dad hating his guts and him loving his dad for it.

I hate to burst your bubble but neither Boston Public, Malcolm in the Middle or Grounded for Life are endager of being cancelled. They are critically acclaimed and well watched shows. I don't care for Boston Public, I don't have particularly strong feelings for Malcolm, but Grounded for Life is a great show...the only show funnier on TV right now is Scrubs.

In my opinion, Malcom is absolute crap. I watched the first episode, up until the mother was shaving the father's back, while he stood there naked behind a newspaper. That was enough for me. Boston Public is too melodramatic for my tastes. I liked it better when when it was plausible.
I hated that when I first watched it, and it still bugs me today. But give the show a chance. That was a horrible part to show when trying to gain fans for the show, I don't know why they did it. But a lot of the episodes now are cooler.
