Maybe they should skip the director's commentary and just release them.... That's what's holding them up isn't it? And they don't really say all that much in them.... Season 1 & 2 they repeat stuff over and over in each episode's commentary.....

It's more likely the syndication contracts. I doubt it's very hard to gather five or six team members into a room, and record their thoughts on a 22min episode, even if it is needed 23 times per season. Even if they only did one a day, that's less than a month per season.
