CNN was running a short news story today on religion in America and got into how the Simpsons characters reflects the regliousness of Americans. Oh, yeah, like Homer's incessant ridicule and abuse of Ned's good nature is a model of religous influence.
What next, Moe as a model for hospitality and culture in American haute cuisine?

Only half the number of viewers as the hurling, I mean, curling, eh? If there was hurling on TV, it would probably get more viewers than CNN.

I rely on The Daily Show's "This Week in God" for my religious news. Nothing shows just how ridiculous religion can be like that segment - and of course alt.religion!

The portrayal of religion is inconsistent on "The Simpsons."
Lovejoy is sometimes good and righteous and sometimes he's money grubbing. Sometimes he's wise, other times he is ignorant of his own Bible.
Even Ned isn't 100%. Where was he during the gay marriage. Perhaps because Rod is leaning toward that, he was silent?
Ned's love for religion seems INSATIABLE but it's really just another STRANGE RELATIONSHIP
