After listening to commentaries, it seems that the "show runners" have the most influence over the shows in each season, I was hopping someone might have a list of who was the show runner each year, just to help give us an idea of what might be behind some of the diffrent tones the show has had.

That's actually not helpful -- "The Simpsons" has several executive producers who are not showrunners. See Bob Barker's post for an accurate list of the exec producers who were showrunners as well.

The list I found lists the same names and seasons as in Bob Barker's list (it just wasn't as clear), except that it (the one I found) was missing the last three seasons.
