Likely, they are counting on not many people seeing it, what with the show starting 45 minutes after it was schedule. People are bound to have given up, while others tune out for a while, only to discover it had finally started and they'd missed the start.

Actually, here in Philadelphia, "the show that came on before it" was the 10 o'clock news - which, except for the weather report, might as well have been called the "10:42 hour-long commiseration and plucky-fan candid camera." (I know I'm in the minority, but enough is enough!) Fortunately, I had known that was coming since some time last week, but I'd be surprised if any casual viewers managed to stay tuned in Philly at all.

I wonder if it affected my enjoyment of the episode (I was starting to fade as the end of it neared, and now I am _wiped_); I did make some kind of provision to this effect in my review. It seems to have gotten a warmer reception than I thought, so I'll have to see how it looks later on.

For those of us who don't care one bit about sports, it's all just one big show. Not only did it run till 10:45pm, but it started at 2pm.

Undoubtedly some do watch it, but for at lest some of us, it's just clutter that does mess up the schedule, not only because it pre-empts things, but usually it runs overtime. But of course, they'll often not rearrange the schedule after that overtime, but join the next program "in progress".

For me, the only good thing about the SUperbowl is that football won't be messing up the Sunday schedule for a while, but then likely I've missed something and there are a few more bowls.

Your FOX affiliate has news? None of the local ones here have news at all. They used to rebroadcast the NOAA weather report straight off 162.55 for 2 minutes at 10:00 PM but they lost interest in that after a few weeks. Of course their transmitter falls off the air about 8 tiems a week too, so I guess they have Homer running the whole show. Neutrodyne
