Who is the old salesperson guy supposed to be?

You know the old guy who pops up on the show sometimes - Gill I think his name is. who is he supposed to be? I've always thought he was based on Jack Lemmon's (rest in peace) character from Glengarry Glen Ross but I think this is cos I first saw him in the episode where Marge becomes an estate agent. Am i right or am i missing some really obvious reference here?

He's based on Lemmon, but I don't know which movie character. It was just discussed here a week 1/2 ago, when Lemmon died.

or willy loman from death of a salesman...he more resembles the character from glengarry glen ross though.
