Part of the Simpsons' charm is that it sometimes does nonsensical storylines (not that it detracts from the quality of the show, no way). In your opinion what's the most nonsensical storyline the show has had so far? Though I haven't even *read* about all the eps (let alone seen 'em), I think that Beyond Blunderdome is a good contender. I mean, c'mon. Mel Gibson changing a potential Oscar-winning drama into a turkey of an action film? And all because of just one person (you know who) saying in a test screening that he wasn't in his action element. (And this is even though just about the rest of the test screening audience praised his performance.) Not that it detracts from how good it must have been of course. Side note: The studio execs trying to burn the film -- a ref to "Burn Hollywood Burn" perhaps? That film (a heavily-flawed classic) was about Eric Idle (of Monty Python) deciding to burn an action film he directed (because the name of his character is Alan Smithee... the pseudonym used when the director disowns his own film).

I thought Beyond Blunderdome was great. I mean, I hated it at first, but it had some great Hollywood satire.

Well, I guess you could say it pales in comparison to the first two...
And about the Jockey Elves ep "Saddlesore Galactica," I laughed so much during my first viewing, then on my second viewing I saw how stupid and rushed the episode was. It was weird, because I still have a soft spot for the Jockey Elves Song, which still gets me everytime (and partially the Lisa subplot, since I could connect with the plot... hmm... I play the trumpet :-). The complete spontenaity (sp?) of "We'll eat you brain!" is funny I guess, and the forced, yet catchy, beat of "So what if I refuse to lose!" gets me singing it everytime I watch the episode.
Sad... Its just a slight, and personal little sympathy for the much (and deservedly) bashed episode.

Nobody quotes "Seven Samurai" either, doesn't make it a bad film.
I liked "Godfather III" but I understand why people don't like it. It's not really part of the trilogy, it is more of a final chapter and it skips ahead a few years of the second film. It might be the weakest film in the trilogy, but it isn't horrible.

However my terse post was based on the fact that "Godfather" (a movie with a far greater appeal than "7S") has memorable lines that are repeated by fans. As a matter of fact, there are lots of people who've seen it so many times, they have it memorized, and mouth along as if it were a "Rocky Horror..." showing. Lots of wavs are available for our amusement. Radio DJ's use them on their soundboard.
One rarely sees a pasty-faced arthouse film-fan doing the same with "7S"
As far a liking "G3"... that's okay since it's personal taste. For personal reasons, I like "Starship Troopers". Yet, I know it's a horrible movie.
