My my my, aren't we picky... What difference does it make if you don't play Doom anymore? Why does it have to be built on a game that came out in the last three years just to be good?

I've played every 1st person shooter from Castle Wolfensten to Halo. Those are of my favorite types of games to play.

If I'm looking for the best graphics, speed, game play, etc, I will definitely take a Halo over a Doom; however, if I'm looking to have a laugh and shoot Moe and Barney, I could care less if it's outdated 2D graphics and mono-midi's.

Wouldn't have required much more time or effort? You joking? They're not built on the 2D file-based engine you know. You can't just strip out the sound and bitmaps and replace them with 2D photos and midi's.

just wanted to mention that I've tried using a Mac utility to convert the WAD to one that will run on the Mac version of DOOM II. Unfortunately, WADenizer II says there's some flaws with the WAD and refuses to load it.

A shame, those screenshots looked nice.

` Still, I think I'll try finding some more utilities and play with them to see if I can get this puppy running.

BTW, you might want to drop a note to the guys who run DOOM World ( http://www.doomworld.com ), they might wind up mentioning it in their news section. And while you're there, check out Batman DOOM and the Wolfenstein WADs, particularly Operation Arctic Wolf.

If you use one of the moderna DooM ports like zDooM, or jDooM, you can get DooM in any resolution you want. There are even OpenGL renderes for DooM now!

And nothing beats good old DooM for speed and violence!
