Last week, the football game caused the Prime Time Line up to start two minutes late. And Fox started Futurama in Progress.
This week, the football game goes into OT, and causes The Simpsons to start five minutes late. Fox shows the episode in it's entirety.
Why should Fox give such treatment to one show over another? True, they have said this will probably be Futurama's last season, but still, it's no excuse.
I don't know. I watched on Globel in Canada where it started right on time :)

But thanks to those idiots at Global it ended five minutes late (at least in Ontario), presumably to synchronize with Fox which was running five minutes late.

I noticed that too. Good thing I was watching and not using my VCR timer to tape it and watch it later or else I would have missed the ending. That network is very unreliable.

Close - it forced the Tivo to record a particular show *if it wasn't doing anything else at the time*. They wouldn't have got away with changing the user's settings like you suggest :-)
Still, it's a shame the BBC is losing the Simpsons soon, it just won't be the same with a commercial break in the middle ... but ah well, what can we do.

That's not really close at all, IMO. My TiVo is always recording stuff I didn't ask it to. Doesn't affect me in the least, and sometimes, I even watch some of it.
Since the scripts were written with commercials in mind, it actually seemed weird to me to watch them without commercials on BBC2.

Except, of course, the show was designed to have two commercial breaks in it in the first place. Three, if you count the break between the intro and Act 1, which is usually taken out in syndication.

any network that advertises and supports that 70s show and titus over futurama and family guy is worthless. when the inevitable happens and the simpsons are retired, fox will be in trouble. they'll have fox sports and ... well, that's about it.

"The Simpsons" gets high ratings and makes Fox a lot of money. "Futurama" doesn't.
"The Simpsons" airs in a favored timeslot, and is heavily advertised. Futurama is frequently pre-empted in half the country, and is almost never advertised. "It all starts at 8", remember?
Because, i feel, Futurama has been pretty much slaughtered by the repeated abuse of fox and its airing of sporting events....
you never know if you will see it or it will be on time or in full.... they just do not seem to care.
Simpsons OTOH is a long running popular show.... they do not want to mess with those fans i guess.
