In the ad for tonight's show Homer said...

..."I haven't been a size 6 since my prom."

Was this scene in the episode or am I just imagining all of this?

i saw that preview too, but it wasn't in the episode. FOX does that sometimes. the one preview i wish i had on tape was to Half Decent Proposal, or maybe Jaws Wired Shut (don't remember), but it was a scene that also did not occur in the episode. marge and homer are sitting in bed, and homer remarks, "little homer needs some attention" and he gratuitously reaches between his legs and fumbles about a bit and produces a little homer doll - a miniature-sized version of himself - from his crotch instead of what everyone thought he meant. i think it's an awful joke for the simpsons to use and am glad it wasn't in the episode, but i just wish sometimes i could see it and remember how awful it was. i mean, it was a *little* funny, but more painful. but i'm anal about OFF of course and wish i had *every* second of broadcasted material on tape, not just episodes but previews and what not. so there's an idea for a clip show!

Fox creates its previews/promos for new episodes well before they air, from the "telecine versions" of each one. (Telecines are the machines used to convert the full-color film of each episode to videotape.) At the telecine stage of production, the producers haven't yet cut any of the excess scenes to fit each episode into Fox's broadcast time limits. That's why those "extra" scenes sometimes appear in promos; Fox chooses the scenes it wants to use from the telecine versions, long before the producers have created the final master tape lacking the extra scenes.
