The Abman's Episode Ideas [revised edition]

Here's some ideas I have for episodes. I've posted these a long time ago, but I've revised the list a bit.

"Passage to Springfield" Bart's newest love interest is Apu's niece, Pahusacheta Nahasapeemapetilon (from Lisa the Beauty Queen). However, Homer and Apu oppose the relationship. Apu thinks that Bart is a bad influence on her, and forbids her to date Bart, or for that matter, any Americans. Homer, as well, is very reluctant to have Bart dating immigrants. The episode is a parody of Bollywood films and ends with the town bursting into a song-and-dance number, changing Homer's and Apu's minds.

"Oh, The Places You Won't Go." After attending a college fair in Springfield, Lisa sets her dreams on attending an Ivy League school. Meanwhile, Mr. Burns gives Homer a huge cash settlement when he proposes a financially succesful cafeteria renovation plan, so Marge and Homer promise Lisa that they'll be able to pay for whatever college she wants to go to. Homer and Lisa go to New England to visit colleges. But meanwhile, Marge spends all the money in one night at the casino. Panicked, she must come up with a get-rich-quick scheme before they come back.

Rod, Tod, Ralph, and Martin are tired of being picked on at school just for being wimps, so they ask Bart to help make them cool. Bart inspires them to become rebels and stand up for themselves. The 4 nerds form a gang, and they terrorize Springfield Elementary through vandalism, bullying, talking back at teachers, stealing, wedgies, driving motorcycles, and wearing obscene clothing. Eventually, Rod, Tod, Martin, and Ralph end up in prison, and their parents turn against Bart.

"Les Ms. Simpson" Lisa becomes depressed when she realizes that her family doesn't care about her intellectual development. Meanwhile, Sideshow Bob busts out of prison, with an evil scheme in mind. He kidnaps Lisa nd goes into hiding with her. Bob plans to use her as bait. He sets up a trap for Bart, because he's hoping that the kidnapping will spite Bart enough to eventually set out to track down their hideout and rescue his sister, only to be killed in the process. However, while being held in captivity, Lisa starts to admire Sideshow Bob for his wit, charm, and intellect, and soon considers him the father figure she's always wanted. Bob himself seems to adore Lisa for her maturity, but are his feelings genuine? Can Lisa change Bob from his evil mindset before Bart gets killed?

Homer and Marge go out for a few hours, leaving the kids by themselves. Maggie begs Bart and Lisa for attention, but they pay no attention. Bored in her crib, Maggie escapes and wanders around town looking for excitement. Most of the episode is a day in the life of Maggie. Some of her adventures in include being confronted by baby Gerald, foiling a Kwik-E-Mart robbery, inadvertently busting Fat Tony's illegal pornography smuggling operation, and searching for her pacifier when it's stolen by a dog. Meanwhile, Bart and Lisa must find Maggie before the parents come back home.

"Simpsons Spinoff Showcase II" Matt Groening and the Simpsons writers present 3 spinoffs to Fox executives. -A soap opera in which Skinner and Krabappel get married, and then Krabappel has an affair with Superintendant Chalmers. -A raunchy sitcom set in high school when the kids are all 7 years older. Lisa is dating Milhouse and tries to decide whether or not to lose her virginity. -In a parody of ER, crisis strikes Springfield Hospital when budget cuts limit Dr. Riviera's and Dr. Hibbert's ability to treat the patients. Meanwhile, Snake runs around the hospital attacking doctors with a knife.

"Lisa vs The World: Part One" Lisa, fearing for Homer's safety on the job, joins a WPA-type group protesting the nuclear power plant. They manage to shut down the plant. But as a result, Homer loses his job, Burns goes bankrupt again, the nuclear plant is shut down, the city loses power, Mayor Quimby flees the city and turns over control to the mafia, and all of Sprinfield is soon in chaos. Lisa's family becomes emotionally cold towards her, but Lisa feels that she's being blamed unfairly, because she acted out of genuine concern for her dad's life. In despair, she runs away from home.

"Lisa vs The World: Part Two" While Lisa is running away from home, she runs into a hippie who seems to know about her and her situation. He informs her that the group she was protesting with has a record of illegal activity and she's in danger of imprisonment by Mr. Burns. He takes her into hiding with the only other people who would understand what it's like to be oppressed for being a social activist, Homer's mom (from Mother Simpson) and her hippie friends. But soon afterwards, Lisa misses her family and realizes that she doesn't want to spend her life in hiding like her grandmother did. She urges Mother Simpson that they get out of hiding, stand up to Mr. Burns, and somehow save Springfield from ruin.

I would appreciate any critical feedback. How about you, Rack? You did a good job judging that contest last summer.

I never seen that movie, I guess you know what you want with that episode though and it works.

Good plot, except I find that you might want to think about switching Homer and Marge's placement in the episode. This way, the gags from the colleges can speak more without too much main character interference, not that I think Homer would be the interference, but it's also that Homer is usually pretty funny in problem situations and besides the fact that I don't see how else Bart could be involved in this episode (noticing that he sometimes falls in the background in Lisa episodes).

Is this a seperate episode, if so, it does sound good, being that I kind of have an idea of all three parts of it.

Is the evil scheme to kill Bart? I guess so, good episode. Sounds also like you may have suspense as to whether or not Lisa will break from Bob's charm.

This would be a good refreshing change from a regular episode, but how about keeping Bart and Lisa's concern out of it and keep all focus on Maggie, you could probably develop an episode similar to "22 short stories about Springfield", or whatever the actual name is.

Between the spinoffs, the episodes main plot revolves around Groening talking Murdoch into one of those shows. Perhaps you could tie the current Futurama cancellation saga into the plot.

Pretty drama like, hopefully you'll have good jokes in it.

And then Homer's mom is out of hiding, only to remember that she is wanted for another crime prior to the one that she ran away for, at least that's my version of an ending.

Well, Bollywood isn't just one film. It's a genre of films created in India, often with same plot I described in my synopsis (girl falls in love, someone opposes the relationship), and always full of song-and-dance numbers. The episode could also deal with the subject matter of Asian kids who are raised in America but still tied by their Asian heritage.

Well, I thought it might be neat to have Marge's gambling problem show up again and finally causing damage to her family, but you're right; it would work better if Lisa went on the trip with Marge; we hardly ever see any plots centered around their relationship.

Yeah, that's basically Bob's goal (as always). Perhaps I'd make it so that Bob kidnaps Lisa simply as the ultimate challenge for Bart. But most of the episode would deal with Lisa going through Stockholm Syndrome (as you said, it's a suspenseful idea) and connecting with Bob because of their intellect. I've been working around with this story for quite some time, because I want to eventually write a fanscript, but I'm struggling to choose the best way to end this episode. Does Lisa eventually find out Bob's true motives? What would happen next? What happens when Bart tracks down their hideout? Should I just have a formulaic ending where Bart and Sideshow Bob duel with 2-ton motorcycles ;) and Bart wins? Or maybe Bob actually does reform?

I think it could be a hilarious episode, just seeing the chain reaction of events after the nuclear plant gets shut down, how the businesses in Springfield are affected, and Fat Tony's mafia crime syndicate taking over the city. Lisa's conflict would be the more serious side of the story; IMO, Lisa dealing with the reality of the consequences of fighting for her causes should be examined more.

I think this 2-parter would work best near the end of the very final season. At that point in the series, I'd appreciate some closure to the story about Mother Simpson (after all, Herb Powell's story eventually ended happily).

If I ever have time, and can come up with some really funny jokes, I'll try to write scripts. Not for all of them, but I'd want to write "Pasage to Springfield" and "Les Ms Simpson".

I just posted my ideas here so I could get opinions on which ones would fit best for The Simpsons, and if any of them are just rehashes of previous episodes.

Let's do a "Simpsons: On the Road" for a full season. The family wins a tv contest where they get to travel around the country in an RV. Thus follow all kinds of wacky adventures.
