laddie

in the episode with laddie the wonderdog, Burns makes a comment to smithers when he is petting laddie in the park and its upwards of "Smithers this dog was in Skull and Bones" or "This dog reminds me of Skul and Bones". does anyone have any idea what this means? Please Help!

According to the capsule for that episode (4F16, The Canine Mutiny):

Dale G. Abersold:  "Skull and Bones" is an exclusive secret society at Yale;
   it first gained attention when it was revealed that George Bush was a
   member.  Supposedly, initiation rituals include nude wrestling and other
   activities too, uh, unsavory to mention here.  Monty is evidently not a
   member, since members don't even mention the name of the society in public.

I liked the newest addition to the Jersey trilogy (now a foursome) because it incorporated every other storyline to date into that one movie. I also like how some actors (Jason Lee, Ben Affleck) had to play two characters or more because they were different ones in the other movies. "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" was a tie-it-all-together movie in my mind, and therefore I enjoyed it.

Andy(atuc.com), has seen them all and will see Kevin Smith come April! :)

Well, J&SBSB is the last of the so-called Jersey Series from Kevin Smith. It was basically thrown together to tie all of the other movies together by including all of the characters and whatnot from them. The reason that I asked about seeing the other movies is because J&SBSB is full of references to the other movies. I'd say that they account for about 75% of the funny parts of the movie. Therefore, to fully appreciate the last movie of the series, you have to have seen the others.

Furthermore, when I first saw the movie, I watched it with a friend that had seen all of the movies and with two friends who had not (one had never seen any of them, the other only Dogma and Clerks). When it was all said and done, the two that had not seen all of the movies felt that it wasn't funny, while my friend that had seen them all and I spent another 30 minutes talking about what a great job Kevin Smith did in tying up the loose ends from the other movies.

I agree here. A similar thing happened to me when I saw it. Of the five who went, two of us had seen the others. It's really funny to "us" therefore because of all of the backstory fill ins throughout the movie. Seeing the little things from the other ones makes it funny by association, that kinda thing.

But some people hate Kevin Smith and are too stubborn to change, to each his own I suppose...

I think that both Mallrats and J&SBSB are below Smith's full potential, but I still preferred Mallrats over the other. But I've only seen J&SBSB once, so that could change after a second viewing.

Well I don't know what he was getting at with that question...but Clerks and Mallrats and Chasing Amy were good and everything after that is pretty crappy. Dogma was OK I guess. I didn't see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

BTW, you should see Clerks with the commentary on (assuming they didn't record a new one when it came out on DVD) because the one they did on the Laser Disc is pretty crazy.
