Sorry to bother you, but some of you may have heard of a campaign called 'Stop Esso'.

Esso openly supports President Bush's decision to abandon the Kyoto Protocol, the international agreement to tackle global warming. Esso donated over $1million - to President Bush and is widely credited with helping convince Bush to walk away from the Kyoto Protocol. Esso refuse to accept the link between burning fossil fuels and global warming.

I am asking you to join a growing group of individuals, companies and organisations who are refusing to buy Esso's products until it changes its attitude about the need to tackle global warming and support the Kyoto Protocol.

There is no scientifically proven link that global warming exists, let alone that burning fossil fuels causes it.

Why would I want the president to sign a treaty which would effectively tie a heavy anchor to our economy, all in the name of dubious scientific theories?

Not to start a debate, or to risk being called a bleeding heart for the fourth or fifth time... but there is a lot of credible scientific data that shows that global warming exists and that burning fossil fuels have caused it. I am not an activist, or a vegan, or even a vegetarian... I even drive a car and so forth... but I have looked at the data and it is very solid.

However, this is a Simpson's newsgroup, and the guy who wants to use it as a forum to discuss Kyoto should get bent.

Your link to the "scientist signed petition" is a well known case of fraud. A package was sent out to thousands and thousands of scientists in different fields... careful designed to look like it was from the NAS, which it was not. It was designed to mislead scientists.

Interesting sites. But my point has been made. There is no scientific consensus on global warming. It can't be proven that man-made greenhouse gasses are raising the earth's temperature. Here's a scientifically valid alternate explanation for global warming:
