1/13 - Sweets and Sour Marge (DABF03)
    Springfield is named the "world's fattest town", probably due in
    part because the CEO of a candy company (voiced by Ben Stiller)
    has been sneaking sugar into everybody's food

1/20 - Homer the Moe (CABF20 - repeat)
    Moe converts the bar into "m", a trendy nightclub, so Homer turns
    his garage into a bar, complete with R.E.M. performing

    from what I posted last May,...
    ...Bender was human?
    ...Fry's life was more like a video game?

    (One of these is a "The Wizard of Oz" parody - I've been told
    it's the Leela one)

You know the routine...note that there's only one game on Fox that starts at 4:05 Eastern (Atlanta at St. Louis), so cities outside of NFL teams' home markets get to choose on their own whether to show that game or a 1:00 game (Arizona-Washington, Dallas-Detroit, Green Bay-NY Giants, Philadelphia-Tampa Bay, San Francisco-New Orleans). The cities that don't get a choice are: (* indicates that it may change status if the local game is blacked out, but don't count on it)

1/13 - Fox will air either a 12:30 or a 4:00 game (and every Fox
       station will air the same game); which time won't be known
       until after the playoffs are finalized, which may not happen
       until the Monday night game on 1/7 ends (as it will have an
       effect on which games CBS will show on 1/12 and 1/13)
       If Fox airs a 12:30 game, a new episode - "Godfellas" - will
       air everywhere (after an attack on the Planet Express ship,
       Bender ends up on a planet whose tiny civilization considers
       him a god)
       If Fox airs a 4:00 game, there will be probably no episode in
       the Eastern and Central time zones, and the Mountain and
       Pacific time zones will air a repeat from a previous season,
       although it's theoretically possible that Fox would air the
       new episode everywhere after the football game ends

1/20 - There has to be at least one AFC game played in the east
       somewhere, as two AFC division champions have to host games
       this weekend (one on Saturday, one on Sunday), so don't
       expect an episode in the east today either; in the west,
       "Bendless Love" (Bender becomes a strikebreaker and falls in
       love...with Flexo's ex-wife) will air

1/27 - Expect more of the usual, UNLESS the AFC Championship ends up
       in Oakland (and the NFC Championship is not in San Francisco),
       in which case CBS would most likely show the 4:15 game that
       day (as they did last year), and Fox could schedule a new
       episode (although they would have only one week's notice).

2/3 - Fox will show the Super Bowl followed by an hour of "Malcolm in the Middle".

I know Fox promos can be misleading, but I'm REALLY having trouble connecting this plot outline with what I've seen in the Fox promos for this week: Marge kicks Homer out after the woman he married in "Viva Ned Flanders" comes for a visit, or something like that. UNLESS... You don't suppose this is the clip show for this season, do you? With the social worker being forced to listen to the family's escapades in the form of flashbacks?

If it's a clip show, that would be an excuse to do a flashback to a time when Bleeding Gums Murphy was alive.

The programming chimps at Fox don't care about the quality of an episode-- all they see is that it had high enough ratings to justify running it a second time.
