I mean I&S becoming real people in the simpsons universe,,not just a cartoon within a cartoon. I mean, could you REALLY see I&S doing audio commentary for their own cartoons?

It's an animated commentary inset box, with "joke" commentary by I&S, a la Spinal Tap. It was never implied they were actually real people.

Yeah, but how do we know that Itchy and Scratchy weren't puppets or mascots...they do stuff like that at like Disneyworld with Mickey Mouse...they take a cartoon and put a person in a suit...

They also could have been animated into the final cut of the show in The Simpsons' universe. Beavis and Butthead appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, and Daria appeared on The Early Show with Jane Clayson..

The most unrealistic thing i've ever seen in Simpsons is probably the transformation of Marge's dad. In a flashback to her first date with Homer he is big, burly, and brown haired. But in the flashback to her finding out he's an aeroplane steward he is skinny, vaguely effeminate and blue haired. Most continuity errors I ignore since it is afterall, a comedy and a cartoon, but still, a complete change in appearance is a bit much. -------- That's not normal: normal is coming home to find your mother nailed to a cross screaming verses from the book of Mormon, your dad performing a dark ritual with your brother as the sacrifice, and your sister getting railed by a goat.
