Are there any references featured on Simpsons episodes that you found remarkably obscure? I usually find one or two every couple weeks and they always make me appreciate the show a bit more. Anyone have any they'd like to share?

It took me quite a while to figure out the title When Flanders Failed was a reference. At the time, I hadn't heard of the poem. Even after reading In Flanders Field I didn't make the connection for a long time. I think it might have even be pointed out to me before I got it.

I came across something on the episode where Krusty fakes his death that I've never caught before. When Bart and Lisa go to the Marina the Sea captain is on the phone and he says "call me back, Ishmael." I think that's probably the most obscure reference I've seen in a long time.
