The original Japanese "Godzilla", with Raymond Burr, is a great movie. But eventually the franchise was so oversold that it was satirized by having Japanese commercial aircraft with "Godzilla Warning" lights in each passenger seat.

Back in the 1970s, on any given Saturday afternoon, you could channel surf through the UHF stations and find at least one showing a movie with a man in a rubber monster suit of some kind and a little Japanese kid with his baseball cap on sideways. And the dialogue would be out of synch with the motion of the people's mouths.

I am sure that is was intended as a pun on Raymond Burr's homosexuality. That is what makes for very good humor.
