Matt Groening Made Me A True American!

=v= Y'know, I used to be out of the loop: I had no TV, no consumer electronics, nothing of value but a bicycle. The President, supposedly a very telegenic Great Communicator, had no sway over me; I honestly think that's the only reason I survived the 1980s. (I still have nightmares about Richard Nixon, though.)

=v= Then _The_Simpsons_ appeared, and I went out and bought a TV and VCR. I could read alt.tv.simpsons at work, but when I noticed the _Simpsons_ screensaver, I realized I needed to get a computer of my very own.

=v= _Futurama_ came along, and Fox started scheduling the two Groening shows at weird times, so I had to get TIVO to keep one step ahead. And now I'm going to have to buy a DVD player by September 25th.

=v= Matt Groening is good for the economy.
He made me an all-American consumer. .--.

I do owe many thanks to Matt Groening. This is a great vindication for anybody who has ever taken a bath, went to get the paper, fell down, had the door slam behind them and had the doorknob break off.

=v= I owe similar thanks to the writers of "Krusty Gets Busted."
That memorable scene in which Homer is shopping for chocolate,
double chocolate, and -- NEW FLAVOR! TRIPLE CHOCOLATE! -- plus
a little something for the walk up to the counter. I felt so
vindicated. There's a little Homer Simpson in all of us.
