Viewing Itchy and Scratchy

I was just curious, why is it that Bart and Lisa always wait until the end credits of an Itchy and Scratchy episode before they begin laughing? I'M usually laughing almost immediately after the cartoon begins, continuing during the rest!

The exaggerated violence of Itchy & Scratchy I'd say is a parody of 'real' cartoons like The Roadrunner, where he gets killed over and over again, but always somehow recovers to be blown up again the following week. The only difference with I & S is you get to see the blood. The fact that Bart and Lisa laugh at this shows they aren't affected by what they see, any more than I was warped by watching Roadrunner cartoons.

Now go away Xino, or I'll jamb a lit stick of dynamite down your trousers and drop a boulder on your head (in the nicest possible way...)

I'll modify that for you then. Krusty himself is not a particularly funny person. He has had serious heart surgery, he's a nicotine addict and he has relationship problems with his father. He also hates children, his main audience, and is a gambling addict. So he *is* a pathetic character, and he was written that way. His efforts to be loved despite all this are what makes him funny, not his act or costume. Personally, I've never found clowns funny, just scary, and I guess that affects my judgement of Krusty.

Your comments are correct. In fact, pretty much everyone's comments are correct. Except Xino's, of course. The objective is to satirize the violence of cartoons with I&S. Real cartoons are so violent, why not just show the blood too? Real cartoons are just half a step behind I&S in terms of their violence.

Xino, most of the conversation here is pretty sophisticated dry humor and sarcasm. It takes some level of intelligence to create it and to appreciate it. Another point is that non-cartoon (real life) films these days are also extremely violent. Any kid by the age of 15 has seen hundreds of decapitations, limb hacks and graphic gunshot wounds. That sort of realism would have got a cinema closed down back when I was first able to attend an R16. Clockwork Orange was one of the first attempts to push back the boundaries of cinema violence, before that people died bloodlessly.

I can use other brands. In fact there's a big explosives factory just north of Rockhampton. I always drive a little faster when I see that place up ahead...

Why was it that Krusty the Klown, Xino Kiner's hero, waited until the end of the credits of "Worker and Parasite" before he said "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" I said that to myself during the cartoon. Because it's a television show, Mr. Kiner. The writers decided that it would be better to show the Simpsons children laughing after the cartoon was over, as opposed to during the cartoon (when their laughter could drown out the wonderful sounds of Scratchy getting squished/maimed/decapitated/disembowled/etc).
