Mahogany was a 1975 film about an African American woman who strives to become a famous fashion designer, and the men who take advantage of her. The film starred Diana Ross, Billy Dee Williams, and Anthony Perkins.

Arthur Fiedler was a conductor who led the Boston Pops Orchestra from 1930 to his death in 1979. During his tenure as the orchestra's conductor, Fiedler, by blending both classical music and more recent music in the Boston Pops performances, brought classical music to a more common audience.

Couch gag - when Homer came out of the water, I was expecting the other Homer, the one from the THOH "toaster is a time machine" vignette to step on him.

One of the restaurants was the "Bodacious Fritatas". I bazoom you remember that movie about that officer who was a gentleman, but I can't seem to remember the name of the movie. In one scene, David Keith and Richard Gere are doing pushups and two attractive women walk by. David Keith says: "would you look at that bodacious set of tatas"? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084434.

I did not recognize any of the regular characters among the crowd at the wake. This was interesting, because usually whenever OFF is in a restaurant or a stadium or someplace, you can see a lot of the regulars in the crowd.

I had assumed that Burns had re-converted the cultural center-cum-prison into an opera house, maybe with a little re-modeling.

And by the way, the correct term is "Oprah House," child!

That seemed pretty generic, the Chandelier dropping. Especially when earlier Wiggums is showing off the preparations they are making to protect Homer, and it includes dropping the chandelier as a preventative measure.

Realistically, all kinds of movies have a chandelier or at the very least some sort of lighting hanging from the ceiling and it is released to squish someone below.

Yeah, the chandeleir dropped in that movie about that ship called the Poseidon where those people had that Adventure, but I can't seem to remember the name of the movie! The remake of that movie was spoofed on the Simpsons, and Ernest Borgnine, who was in the original, was a guest star on an OFF episode many years ago. BTW, a search for "chandelier dropping" at IMDB did not return anything useful.
