He's premature, but otherwise in good health:

Which makes me bring some news of my own, as you handful of regulars here at a.t.s. are the closest things I have to online friends. (I'm sure my exuberance thrills you... :)
First, the bad. A few months ago, Aaron posted a message titled "The Simpsons don't really matter" or some such, about serious things going on in his life. Well, in October of 2008, my mother passed away. She had fought cancer for about 20 years of her life, and beat it back mostly. Finally, she succumbed to a brain tumor (or, more likely, more than one - according to the doctor).
Now, the good. About a month and a half later, my wife became pregnant. This will be our first child, for both of us. We had never really tried to prevent conception, but we have been together for about 15 years, and we had just assumed we were never going to have kids. She's in her late 30s, I am in my early 40s. We certainly weren't expecting this, but we do feel blessed.
It's bittersweet - my mom would have loved to have grandkids. I am an only child, so she never got to have any.
The baby's due August 25th.
